Hey Beauties!

I hope you all had a wonderful week! What was the best thing that happened to you? What made you happy this week? I’ve gotta say, this week has been one of the best weeks I’ve had in a while. The amount of positive comments that I’ve received from my last post is so heart warming. I honestly had no idea that people would relate on such a personal level with my story. I was nervous about posting New Year, New Blog. Posting anything personal online is tough, but so far the best part about blogging is hearing that my story helped people feel better about their situations or feel inspired by what I wrote, so with that said I just want to thank everyone who took the time to read last my post, check out my blog or leave me their very sweet and thoughtful comments.

I’ve planned out a whole bunch of posts that I’ll hopefully get around to finishing near the end of this week/early next week once things settle down a little for me. Right now I’m on the plane heading back to Thunder Bay to pack up the rest of my things from my house. I’ll be spending two days at home packing, organizing and having one last visit with my family and friends. As nice as it will be to be back for a little while, I won’t lie, I’m really hoping there’s no more moving for me anytime soon (packing is not my forte lol). Then come Wednesday starts the 2.5 day road trip back to Toronto. Let’s hope the road trip brings me some creative writing inspiration!

As usual, today I found myself packing at the last minute. I threw a bag together filled with only makeup essentials into my small carry on bag. I’m not planning on doing my makeup in the next week so I wanted to just bring a few of my more casual products that I don't have to worry about loosing or misplacing during the travels. These products I make sure to stock up on every time I head to Shoppers- they’re my go-to for not only me but for my clients too! The best part? 4/5 of the products are under $10! How can you go wrong!? Here's a list of my top 5 favourite drug store products:

One big reason I love this foundation because they've got a huge selection of shades for every skin tone. It makes it really easy to find shades for me and my clients. I find that most drug store foundations are a little too orange for me and the formulas don't feel great on my skin. I'm a huge fan of the formula and how lightweight it feels but it's a medium coverage foundation. I have normal to oily skin 90% of the time and the formula in this foundation is designed to make the skin matte and refine pores with a natural finish which it does perfectly for me. I've also tried their Hydrate + Smooth foundation when my skin is dry and I also really like that formula.

I think that this might have been one of the first mascaras I ever used. Mascara is one of my essential products and it’s something I go through pretty quick, so most of the time I can’t justify spending $30-40 on a new higher end mascara every few weeks. I swear every time I wear this mascara people ask me if I’m wearing fake eyelashes! Something about the no clump voluminous formula and patented volume maximizing brush combo always makes it the perfect mascara day for me.

Although I have a few drug store concealers I like, I'm really obsessed with this one right now. It covers perfectly and doesn't crease even if I wear it all day. This concealer is perfect for my skin because it gives me high coverage and also doesn't make my skin shiny or oily like most concealers do for me. It sets perfectly with a translucent powder or finishing powder over top. This is also another one of my go to products for clients. Right now I've been using the shade light but I keep about 10 different shades of the concealer and colour correctors in my kit. The 22 concealer colours ensures that I can match any shade for me or my clients!

I love love love this dry shampoo. It's so lightweight but works so well on my hair. I can go 2-3 days without washing my hair and I can reapply without it feeling heavy and full of product. It's perfect for me because my hair is chemically treated blonde and it tends to get way too dried out if I wash it everyday. I'll also use it on days when I wash my hair and I need some more texture and volume. Oh, and I should add that this fresh scent smells amazing!

These butter glosses are to die for, especially in the winter when my lips tend to get dry. This product is so soft and moisturizing. it's not sticky which I like in an everyday lipgloss. Not to mention for a lipgloss the pigment in the butter gloss is great, usually glosses come off more transparent but this one gives the perfect touch of colour. The best part though, it tastes and smells just like a sugar cookie! Yum!
